The Brand
Farmacias Caridad is Puerto Rico’s largest Puerto Rican-owned pharmacy chain, operating over 48 locations across the island. Known for its dedication to community health and wellness, Farmacias Caridad offers a wide variety of services, including prescription fulfillment, vaccinations, delivery, MedSafe drop-off for medication disposal, and much more. The company sought to modernize its digital presence following its acquisition of all CVS locations in Puerto Rico, aiming to create an ecommerce platform that matches its brand and expands its services online.
The Challenge

No Existing ecommerce Functionality
Farmacias Caridad only provided customers with a PDF version of its physical shopper catalog, without the ability to purchase products online or view live inventory.

Outdated and Unbranded Storefront
The previous online presence was based on an old Shopify theme, which did not align with the brand’s updated vision or the modern expectations of an online store.

Inadequate Location Features
Customers could not easily find store locations or details such as hours of operation, phone numbers, or available services.

Complexity of Service Offerings
With numerous services available, there were no dedicated pages to educate users on offerings like MedSafe, delivery options, or rewards programs.

The store required full support for bilingual content in Spanish and English, along with integration of Puerto Rican-specific platforms like Flexio for local delivery.

Developed a fully functional Shopify store, enabling customers to browse, filter, and purchase over 450 products, with plans for continued inventory expansion.

Integrated an interactive map for all 48 pharmacy locations, allowing users to filter by services such as MedSafe drop-off, delivery, or vaccination centers.

Improved the quality and consistency of client-provided icons and images for seamless integration across the site.

Flexio Integration
Configured Flexio as a local delivery solution and integrated Uber Eats and Munchies profiles for ordering from select pharmacy locations.

Provided a training session for the Farmacias Caridad team to manage the Shopify platform and began a support period to address any post-launch needs.

PlacetoPay Integration
Configured PlacetoPay by Evertec as their main payment processing platform connecting their local merchant account to Shopify.
